HOLA Amigos :)
Super
good week. It´s always a good week to be a missionary :)
Update
on Mario. He is doin so swell :) This week when we went to visit he told us
that he has been doing his FH´s and he asked to know how he can pay his
tithing. They are really struggling economically and have pretty much no
income, but his brother came by and gave him just a little bit of money and he
paid on that, awe. He was so excited to finally be able to pay tithing :) Also,
Norma is super open again. She goes in stages, but this time she was helping
Mario understand the scriptures we shared. So happy :)
Zoe
is progressing so much. She is such a special 11 year old. This week when went
to visit she had read like 10 chapters of the Book of Mormon in 3 days... that
is a lot for an 11 year old. And she understood it. And LOVED it :) I gave her
some little scripture marking stickers and she had tears in her eyes. She was
so grateful and excited to study the scriptures. She´s adorable :) I love
seeing how Heavenly Father sends sons and daughters to help their parents. She
is an angel for her family :)
Crazy
thing happened this week. We were knocking on a door and turned around and
heard someone say... "...I wanna learn about, Moroni, Alma, Nephi... Teach
me about Jacob, Helaman..." We turned around and there was a man just
staring at us... not gonna lie.. totally gave me the creeps. Turns out he has
investigated the church a lot in Mendoza and has read the Book of Mormon twice.
We invited him to come to church. Sunday, as we got to church we looked
across the street and he was sitting on some steps across the street. We
invited him to come in.. and he stayed all three meetings! We´ll see what
happens! Haha :) Sometimes your investigators find you eh?
This
week I have been thinking a lot about the natural man... I chose Mosiah 3:19 for
my ponderizing scripture this week... that talks about how the natural
man is an enemy to God. I realized that so many times the spirit tells us to do
something or become someone and that stinkin "natural man" just gets
right in the way. In Galatians I love what it says about the natural man..
"This
I say then, Walk in the spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
For the flesh lusteth against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh: and
these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye
would.
It
is a true constant battle between the Sprit and the Natural Man, I see it every
day with myself, companions, investigators, members, less actives EVERYONE. On
countless occasions during the day, we choose to obey one and put off the other.
And those little decisions make all the difference. The true putting off of the
natural man comes from true personal sacrifice... I´m in love with this
quote...
"Real,
personal sacrifice never was placing an animal on the altar. Instead, it is a
willingness to put the animal in us upon the altar and letting it be
consumed." -Neal A. Maxwell
I
feel so blessed for the opportunity I have every day to battle it out with
Natural Man and become even just a little better and stronger :) I love being a
missionary!
